KBK was established on 2 September 2003 heavily sponsored by the local savings bank. The club overtook the licenses and the teams of the former traditional clubs Kristiansund FK and Clausenengen FK and started in 2004 in the 4th Norwegian league and rose to the top league in 2016.
The flag is dark blue, in top a white rectangle fimbriated dark blue charged with an owl’s face also dark blue with its beak exceeding the rectangle. In base is a centred inscription in white capitals “KRISTIANSUND” (1st line) “BALLKLUBB”(2nd line)
