Blazon: I grønt ei sølv helder. In English: Vert a wooden staple argent.

A wooden staple (Norwegian "helder" or "herder" and even "hærder") is a wooden
ring used to fasten a strap of a tree load. The device is used all over Norway
and known also as "hogold", "hegd" and "reiphelde" and has variants in layout,
while this one is typical for the region. The staple in the arms is said to
represent unity and concord.
It should be noted that the
municipal
web site quotes the royal resolution (or so it says, but probably quoting
the local regulation instead) blazon: "På grønn bunn en sølv hærder." while the
flag is described: "Flagg med sølv hærder i grønn bunn, i kvadratisk form."
These are to the same effect, but the flag is explicitly specified to be square
in shape.
