Coat of Arms

[COA of Frogn]image by Tomislav Šipek, 23 October 2015

The current COA of Frong is not found in the [c2j87] but in the addendum booklet [c2j88] where the blazon is given as: I blått en sølv bjelke dannet ved tindesnitt i overkant.
In English: Azure a bar embattled at the top argent.
It was approved by the royal resolution of 20 May 1988 after a drawing by Truls Nygaard.
In the [c2j87], on the other hand there is a short description of the "heraldic" emblem used by the Frogn's central town of Drøbak: quartered, in the first (of unnamed dark colour) a vine leaf with a beetle, in the second and the third two armoured hands holding a crown and in the fourth twelve smaller and four larger balls irregularly spread. Such COA is actually found, it is said, on the organ gallery in the Drøbak church, and it belonged to Danish natural scientist O. F. Müller (1730-1784) and his wife Anna Paludan (1735-1787). The 1st and 4th quarters are from his biology studies, and the 2nd and 3rd are the Paludan family arms. The two of them left a considerable inheritance to Drøbak, where Anna was previously married to a rich local businessman.
Cf. the organ gallery arms.
Drobak page at NGW with the old arms still being in use locally.
