Skraard has c. 150 inhabitants and is NW of Bolsward city. It has some national fame as one of the places with the longest one-syllable name.
Nickname: "skieppesturten", "skieppekoppen" - sheep's tails,
heads - farmers breeding cattle are more intelligent than those who breed
sheep.
"aedsjemigers" - the Skraarder women had to wash their hands
on shells in ditches outside the house.
