Hichtum village
Hichtum is a village in Wûnseradiel municipality in the province
of Fryslân.
Flag: green, a yellow fly-diagonal; at the hoist the narrowed municipal
flag.
Arms: Per pale 8 charges vert and or; in canton azure a fleur-de-lis
argent with a couped pillarformed base.
The arms are based on the arms of the Thoe Schwartzenberg family (that
is: per fess 8 charges of azure and argent). The colors are derived from
the villageflag: green and yellow. The fleur-de-lis is from the arms of
the Van Huyghis family, which lived at the Wybrandastins in the village.
Hichtum is a small village (c. 100 inh.), a bit north of Bolsward city.
It boasts a 12th century church.
