INEGI states that the coat of arms of the municipality was adopted by the Political Leadership in 1827; of course, it is very likely the municipality adopted this much, much later, but unclear at what time. It depicts an eagle eating a serpent seated on a cactus under the Phrygian cap of liberty. To its sides are muskets, lances, and national flags. Below are cannonballs, cannons, pistols, a bugle, and swords. At the bottom, branches are tied together in a ribbon. A shape is in green and red to the sides. Clearly, this is very nationalistic for a municipal coat of arms.
