The coat of arms of El Salvador was adopted during the term of 2007-2010 under Municipal President Plutarco Zavala Torres. It was adopted through a call for submissions from the council; the winning design being the one by Juan Francisco López Alvarado. Over a scrolled border, the sides (left, right, bottom) read the motto Esfuerzo, Trabajo, Lealtad. At the bottom, a ribbon reads El Salvador, Zac. In the center, bordered by a random shape, a map of the municipality is divided into four quadrants. The upper-left depicts a hill with a palm tree and cactus, basic alimentation of cattle. To the upper-right, a head of cattle and a corn plant, basic alimentation of the municipality and industry. To the lower-left, the local Church of the Divine Savior. To the lower-right, its entrance with a path and the hills in the background. Behind, a sword and gun for work and defense.
