The coat of arms of Chalchihuites was adopted in 1956; its author is Alfonso Muguiro Miranda, who designed it in 1954. It was created for the 400th anniversary of its foundation, and adopted through a contest between participants. Over the shield is the Royal Spanish Crown, with emeralds and turquoise rocks, and flowers; topped off by a cross. To the sides, a ring decorated in Bidens aurea flowers characteristic of the land and Moorish-form chainlinks. At the bottom, a cross with a coyote, characteristic of the fauna. Under this, a ribbon over the Spanish royal color pink reading "DEO FIDELES ET REGI" [Faithful to my God and the King]. Below, laurels for military victories connected by the sun of the spring equinox seen in the Alta Vista archaeological zone. The upper-left section depicts the lion that distinguishes the province of Castille, Spain. To the upper-right, the tower of Toledo, who King Philip II's ancestors are from. Below, the figure of Saint Peter the Apostle is found, patron saint of the town, over a bridge and with a background of hills; in a blue robe and bearded, his cane ends at a circle reading "PH".
