There is a silver version of the Municipal Coat of Arms used on a flag at the popular Miramar Beach, that is indeed itself referenced on its coat of arms.

In 1960, a contest was held to determine the municipal coat of arms under Municipal President Álvaro Flores Montante (1958-1960). The jury was composed of Natividad Garza Leal, Javier Ruiz Muñoz, Leobardo Castro, and Juan Ponce Navarrete. On 11 October, the design chosen was created by Andrés Hernández from Tampico, under the pseudonym "El Prof.", receiving 1500 pesos for his design.

The border reads "CIUDAD MADERO TAMAULIPAS". It has a dolphin on each side, a symbol of the city and the Gulf of Mexico it borders. The inner area is divided into three sections: divided in half, with one section above. The upper section depicts a lighthouse on a hill by the water, with a ray (in newer versions reflecting three stars, representing the building of the Miramar Beach lighthouse in 1883). The lower-left section depicts a hand grasping a plant firmly planted in the soil, with its roots visible; this is for agriculture. The lower-right section depicts smokestacks, remembering the famed petroleum industry of the area.
