The coat of arms of Escuinapa was designed by Fabián Antonio Polanco Valdez during the term of 1978-1980 under Municipal President Germinal Aramburo Cristerna.
The border is in red, outlined in black. The upper section of the inner area is yellow, bearing four footprints remembering the pilgrimages the Indians took through here. A ribbon reads ESCUINAPA DE HIDALGO and the year 1915, when it was created. The lower half is divided into four quadrants. In its center is a tree representing municipal progress. The upper-left section depicts a man in a boat on the sea with a net out for fishing, the sky filled with clouds, remembering that the municipality has a coast and the fishing industry. The upper-right section depicts mounds of salt and the salt flats. The lower-left section depicts a head of cattle grazing on grass and the forest, remembering the environment and the cattle-raising industry here. The lower-right section depicts a factory for industry and the processing of fruits. On each side of the inner area are four connected chain links, representing that the activities depicted are chained to the progress of the municipality.
