The council told me that because they do not have a municipal chronicler, they could not give information. The coat of arms of Cedral has a ribbon above it reading "CEDRAL EN DESARROLLO POR EL PROGRESO DEL ESTADO Y DEL PAIS" [Cedral in Development for the Progress of the State and of the Country]. The shield has rolled edges and has a crown at the top for its colonial past. To its sides are cedar branches as a representation of its name, place of cedars. The shield is divided into four quadrants and has a diamond shape in the center. The upper-left section depicts a locomotive on a railroad track passing through an arch, representative of its railroading industry. The upper-right section depicts the Assumption Church. The lower-left section depicts a hill, representative of the mountains seen in the area. Also seen, to its right, is an Indian clothed in an animal's skin representative of the pre-Hispanic history, standing on a ploughed field with a tractor as a representation of its agriculture. The lower-right section depicts a school with a book in front of it having numbers, symbol of education. The diamond in the center depicts the Municipal Building, also a symbol of its colonial architecture.
