Coat of Arms

from archivos.juridicas.unam.mx

The council informed me they could not locate information regarding the municipal coat of arms. It is known that it was adopted in 1980. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the state, having a helmet at the top and a ribbon in the National Colors under the shield reading LOS RAMONES N.L. The sides of the border read RANCHO DEL CAPADERO, the original name. At the bottom are the years 1912 and 1980; when it became a municipality and the adoption of the coat of arms, respectively. The upper-left section depicts the Cerro del Papagayos (hill) in the background and the Pesquería River cutting across; its geography. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts the Municipal Building. The lower-right section depicts the San José Temple. In the inescutcheon in the center, it is divided in half; to the left, a coat of arms of the Ramón surname (holy orb surrounded by wreath) in honor of Juan Ignacio y Buenaventura Ramón, who the municipality is named after; to the right, a shield of the Rodríguez surname, which is four fleur-de-lis symbols over red divided by a diagonal cross; in honor of Plácido Rodríguez, founder of the first human settlement here.
