The flag of General Escobedo is white with the municipal coat of arms centered upon it. It should be noted that in Council Sessions, a flag appears with the council logo instead; it appears the flag might not be in use anymore.

Coat of Arms

from Wikimedia Commons

The first coat of arms was designed by Gustavo Garza Guajardo in 1971; I do not have an image of this coat of arms. In January 1992, the Council asked the citizens for proposals in selecting a new municipal coat of arms. About 25 submissions were received; the result was given on 24 February, the designer being Francisco Alvarado Segovia. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the State, having a helmet at the top and a ribbon below in the national colors, reading the motto TRABAJO Y ARRAIGO [WORK AND TAKE ROOT]. The border of the shield reads; at the top, 24 DE FEBRERO; to the left, 1868, this is the date the municipality was created, and to the right 1982, the year its status was elevated to City. At the bottom are the words GRAl. ESCOBEDO N.L. The inner area is divided into four sections, having an inescutcheon in the center. The upper-left section depicts the local San Nicolás de Bari church; to the upper-right, a rampant red lion crowned as a symbol of the State. The lower-left section depicts the monument to Mariano Escobedo, who the municipality is named after. The lower-right depicts the geography and industry: the Topo Chico Hill; industry (cogwheel), agriculture (field), and cattle-raising (bovine). The inescutcheon in the center depicts an open book for the establishment of the Hacienda del Topo.
