The coat of arms of Cadereyta Jiménez was adopted in late 1961, being designed by the teacher and historian Israel Cavazos Garza. The shield has a crown at the top, remembering the noble title of Lope Díez de Armendáriz, and a ribbon under reading CD. D CADREYTA XIMENEZ. The shield is divided into four sections; the upper-left section depicts the Lamb of God carrying a banner, over a book; to its sides are the crowned initials of the king and queen Isabel and Ferdinand, and under the lamb is a motto. The upper-right section depicts the mountains, with the Santa Catarina river cutting across (bundle of wheat to the left, sheep and dog to the right) representing the natural resources, agriculture, and cattle-raising industries. The sun can be seen beside the mountains. The lower-left section depicts a star over blue, appearing in the coat of arms of Lope Díez de Armendáriz, Marquess of Cadereyta; the municipality was named in his honor. The lower-right section depicts two lions on a tree, one holding fish and the other a cross. Under the tree is an open book. This alludes to some of its illustrious men: Martín de Zavala, who founded the town again, and Alonso de León, Mayor until 1642. A cross cuts through the shield from behind for the faith.
