The council uses a gonfalon; it is white with a rounded bottom and has a fringe around three sides. In the center is the Municipal Coat of Arms with the text "SAN JOSÉ ITURBIDE, GTO." above it.

Coat of Arms

from Facebook

The council informed me their coat of arms was adopted by Act No. 16 on 12 August 1992, being presented by Municipal Chronicler Miguel Ferro Herrera. The municipal coat of arms is the archbishop Manuel José Rubio y Salinas, recognized as the founder of the city. The only addition is the Trigarante flag and branch over it; it should be noted this version appears to be fictional (see page). The coat of arms of the archbishop depicts a wooden frame, and is divided horizontally in half, with each half having 4 sections. Above is a shield, divided vertically in half and is crowned; the left half of this depicts the Lion of Castile, and the right half has a heart. From left to right for the upper half: the sun with a face; a tree and four wolves beside it, having an eagle and crown above the tree; six dots; five flowers; and on the bottom, a castle, two castles divided diagonally; cross fleury; and finally, a crescent on white over black. The context behind the archbishop's coat of arms is unknown. And of course, under the shield is the added (erroneous) Trigarante Flag and a branch.
