The council informed me they do not have information on the history of the coat of arms of Romita. Description as found online:
The coat of arms symbolizes in its totality, agriculture and the environment of the region, crowned by a rainbow, symbol of water that fertilizes its lands. According to heraldry, it is a Spanish shield; its left half shows its beautiful climate, its pure air and fertile land; in it two farmers are valued in middle of sowing and in the background the hill of Lajas, which forms the limit with San Pedro Piedra Gorda [Manuel Dobladao]. The right half is cut by two parts: the upper one indicating that covered hills exist here, principally of mesquite trees which have served to create tables, plows, church doors, jail-cell bars for the jail, and coffins for the journey to eternity. The lower half is a show of optimism: the "bulls" of an optimal harvest [also a local dancing tradition]. The lower section of the shield shows a cob of corn, symbol of work of the municipality of Romita.
