Coat of Arms

The council informed me the coat of arms of Tumbalá was adopted in 2010, being adopted through a donation from an anonymous author. The shield has a thin yellow border, and is found in Article 13 of Chapter III of the Municipal Regulation on Police and Government of the Municipality:

The quetzal [above, between two clouds] signifies: "Hill of Quetzal", in Indigenous tongue chol kujwitys

The tiger [over a river, at the top, with a hill in the background for the geography]: Is a symbol of the Tongue of the choles [dance of the tiger], Danced from 28 January to 2 February which has its origin in the Mariscal Subikuski locality among others

The Catholic Church [right]: "San Miguel Arcángel" Founded by Friar Pedro Lorenzo de Margil (Friar Lorenzo de la nada) on 15 March 1567 in the time of the Dominicans and later in the year 1568, the Franciscans established the Religious dominion over the Catholics [sic].

Building of the Presidency [left]: Construction as a Historic Building

Inhabitants [at the bottom, left]: choles, are identified by the Dress which the woman uses, in Huipil of blankets embroidered in diverse colors with Geometric figures, ribbon of colors, collars, and earrings with beads and with Naguas (underskirt) of dark blue coloring at the waist of colors Man [bottom, right]: underwear and shirt of blankets and sombrero of palm for work, needing the Machete and Pozol that is conserved through a gourd.

The two Extended Hands [bottom]: Signify blessing of the harvest of corn and coffee. The plant or harvest of corn: are considered as holy aliment, (cholel) meaning cornfield [part of the name of the natives].

Coffee: Is the second phase for family sustenance and as an economic source, which they left as a Legacy to those positioned here in past times by the Germans.

River: Represents the river of blue water, today an ecotourist center.
