Located in Setagaya City Tokyo and established in 1953.
The university flag has blue background with a white symbol mark and white kanji university name written horizontally.
The symbol mark of Tama Art University was created in 1995, at the same time as the 60th anniversary of the school's founding, and the UI (University Identity) was developed. The design was chosen by the current president (then visiting professor at the Faculty of Art, Division 2), Takenobu Igarashi. The symbol mark is a transformation of the original school emblem "美" -art symbolizing a sheep's head. The two lines on the top and bottom represent "freedom" and "willpower.
