Located in Oita City Oita Prefecture and established in 1998. The university flag has white background with a red ,orange, yellow and blue design of clione in the center. The university flag was created in the first year of the university's opening through an open competition. The flag was designed based on a deformed design of a clione in the shape of Oita Prefecture. The clione is a type of mollusk found along the coast of Hokkaido, and is known for its appearance as an "angel of the ice floes" after it grows out of its shell. In the center of the flag is the logo of the university which is a red and yellow circle with the university's English initials, OU, in a graphic design,surrounded by the English university name in white letters, indicating the location of Oita University of Nursing and Health Sciences.
