Located Chiyoda City Tokyo and established in 1949.
The embroidered ceremonial flag has ancient purple with a gold, silver and purple-colored emblem at the canton, one white line at the top and two white lines at the bottom,in dark bluish purple fringe. The university flag has light purple background with a white emblem and one white line at the top and two white lines at the bottom. (Source)
The university emblem is a design of the university's founding principles, with the kanji word 大妻"Otsuma" and a scroll of string within a circle. The circle represents the concepts of "Enrichment," "Harmony," "Affinity," and "Mirror of the Heart," while the scroll of string represents skills, signifying the principles of building a rich personality and acquiring specialized knowledge and skills.
