The flag is purple field with a light purple and orange emblem in the center.
The emblem of is a snowflake representing Hokkaido, and the image of Asahikawa is represented by Japanese rowan tree with beautiful autumn leaves, and the white kanji word "醫大”(=medical university) in the center represents Asahikawa Medical University, located in Hokkaido.
