The city emblem was adopted on May 5th 1941 and the flag was adopted on Oct
14th 2008 by Notice No 471.
The white flag has a blue city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a stylized kanji 日田 Hita.
It depicts River Mikuma in a circle as a symbol of the water city.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The diameter of the emblem is 3/5 height of the flag.
