The city emblem was adopted on Mar 28th 1962 by Notice No 28 and the flag was adopted on Apr 1st 1996 by Notice No 41.
The green flag has a white city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a stylized katakana ア A of Arao.
The arrowhead represents an image of the developing city.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The diameter of the emblem is 3/5 height of the flag.
