The city emblem was adopted on Aug 1st 1959 by Notice No 24 but there is no flag law.
The blue flag has a white city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is stylized katakana ムロト Muroto.
The circle symbolizes a solidarity and a happiness of the city, the umbonal parts on both side
do an exponential development of the city and the center triangle does the land form of the city
and Cape Muroto jutting to the Pacific Ocean.
