The village emblem was adopted in 1927 but there is no flag law. The green
flag has a red village emblem with a white fimbiriation and its village kanji
name in white at the bottom part. The village emblem is a stylized kanji 中山
Nakayama in commemoration of Emperor Gotoba’s visit to the place in Shinjo
Village in 1221. It represents a wish for the villagers to firmly collaborate
and promote a spirit of patriotism and pathetic provincialism.
