The city emblem was adopted on Jul 31st 2005 by Notice No 174 but there is no
flag law. The white flag has a red and a green two color city emblem in the
center. The city emblem is a stylized katakana ア A of Akaiwa. The red color
stands for a vigor of the citizen, the green color for an abundant nature and
a cultural history. It represents a development of the city full of vigor which
looks into the future.
