The town emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 1968 but there is no flag law. The
green flag has a white town emblem in the center. The town emblem is a stylized
hiragana わ Wa of Watarai. The left part symbolizes a forest and the right part
circle a peaceful town. As a whole, it represents a strong will and a concord.
