The city emblem was adopted on Aug 4th 1954 but there is no flag law. The
white flag has a red city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized
katakana オ O and kanji 鷲 Wase. The flying in a giant sky eagle stands for a good
fortune, a surge and a development of the city and the circle for a peace and a
concord. The five parts symbolizes the merged former four villages and a town.
