The city emblem was adopted on Apr 10th 1949 but there is no flag law. The
blue flag has a white city emblem in the center. The steaming hot water in the
center stand for world famous hot spring place surrounded by an outer circle in
a form of plum flower with ripping waves inward. It represents Atami’s
mild climate and a place of scenic beauty with beautiful Pacific Ocean.
