The city emblem was adopted on Apr 1st 2005 by Notice No 1 but there is no
flag law. The white flag has a green , a white, a blue and an orange four color
city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 十 To of Tokamachi
in a form of a warm human. The city emblem depicts the sun shining a bright
future, Mother earth providing abundant gifts and a big river the Shinano. The
canvas symbolizes snows and the future. It represents dreams and hopes of the
citizen who seek for a new development in a rich nature.
