The city emblem was adopted on Mar 1st 2004 by Notice No 103 but there is no
flag law. The white flag has a blue and a yellow two color city emblem in the
center. The city emblem is a stylized S of Sado in a form of Sado island and a
flying ibis. The blue color stands for Japan Sea surrounding Sado island, the
yellow color for a shining island with an evening Sun and a morning Sun. It
represents an abundant nature and a culture continuing into the future.
