The city emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 1990 but there is no flag law. The
white flag has a green city emblem in the center. The city emblem is three
stylized katakana マ Ma of higashiMatsuyama in a form of kanji 東 Higashi and 山
Yama. The umbonal three lines symbolize the citizen who battles with
difficulties. As a whole, it represents a steady city administration.
