The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Oct 22nd 2006 by Notice No 418
and 419. The white flag has a red, a green, a blue three color city emblem in
the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 本 Hon of Honjo. The red color
stands for a vigor of the region which has a long history and a passion of the
citizen, the green color for a farn land and a mountain forest which bring
blessings, the blue color for an abundant water of Tone River. It represents an
image of the city which well harmonizes with nature and make a leap forward. The
flag proportion is 2:3.
