The city emblem was adopted on Jun 8th 1942 but there is no flag law. The
green flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized
kanji 土 Tsuchi of Tsuchiura. The city emblem depicts a grace drawn by ripples of
Lake Kasumigaura and a cherry blossom reflected on the surfice of Sakura River.
It represents a concord of the citizen and growing city.
