The city emblem was adopted on Apr 26th 1927 by Notice No 34 but there is no
flag law. The white flag has a black city emblem in the center. The city emblem
is a stylized old style kanji 會 Ai of Aizuwakamatsu which had been used as a war
banner of Aizu Domain and a shoulder mark at the Boshin Civil War. It represents
citys history and the tradition and the harmony of the citizen.

The flag of the former village of Kitaaizu was white with mark. The village
is now, from 2004, part of the city of Aizuwakamatsu.
