The city flag was adopted on December 11th 1964.
The green flag charged with white city emblem in the center.
The flag proportion is 2:3.
The city emblem is composed of a stylized
kanji 山 YAMA and three vertical lines inside which represent freedom, equality and fraternalism.
The outer circle stands for solidarity and the sharp edges at bottom for strong will.

The design for the emblem replaces the previous one (Notice 18, June
1912). The three lines in the centre represent liberty, equality and
fraternity, the outer circle unity and the angle below the lines strong
will. Together, the show the kanji yama 山 (mountain) [in a circle].
The green field of the flag represents peace.
