The city emblem was adopted on Jul 11th 1991 by Notice No 87 but
there is no flag law.
The white flag has a blue and a green two color city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a stylized kanji 北 Kita of Kitakami.
It represents a wish for a development of the city enveloped with water,green trees
and an uplifting feeling.
