The city emblem and the flag were adopted on Jan 1st 2006 by Notice No 1 and No 2.
The white flag has an orange and a blue two color city emblem in the center.
The four curved lines symbolize the former merged one city and three towns,
Mt. Hayachine and a development of the city.
The center orange color represents a consolation, a vigor and the people’s passion.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The height of the emblem is 2/3 height of the flag.

The design is based on the kanji character for “stone” 石 ishi; the circle symbolizes harmony and unity, while the wings represent the town's development.
