The historical flag of Bormio is mentioned in a article in
Italian by Marco Foppoli at <web.tiscali.it/bormio>.
It seems that it was adopted following the Coat of Arms (which
followed Como's) sometime in the 13-14th century. The flag is
white St. George cross on red. In the image at the article it
appears as swallow-tail (as hoisted above the castle tower), but
I guess it was usually used in rectangle shape. As I understand
it, the flag was abandoned in 1797, and the writer is mourn that
the town don't use it today.

According to that webpage, in the early 13th century Bormio
was subject to the lordship of Como and thus
"inherited" its arms, which in turn was derived from
the Imperial "Blutfahne"
as was the case with other cities allied with the Emperor, such
as Novara and Pavia.
