"GONFALONE. Drappo palato d'oro e di rosso di sei
pezzi, riccamente ornato di ricami d'argento e caricato dello
stemma comunale, con l'iscrizione centrata in argento: «Comune
di San Quirico d'Orcia» (Decreto del Presidente della Repubblica
in data 14 marzo 1962). L'attuale emblema comunale sembra tratto
da uno stemma che si trova sulla facciata dell'antico Palazzo
Pretorio di San Quirico d'Orcia. È di difficile interpretazione
e potrebbe appartenere a una famiglia del luogo, oppure a uno dei
tanti personaggi che governarono la comunità."
