scudetto del comune in cuore (Regio decreto in data 7 luglio
1889).
Un ponte, un uomo, un sacco, il letto di un fiume sono i segni
racchiusi nello scudo che rappresenta il comune di Ponsacco. Che
le immagini si riferiscano al nome del paese, non vi è dubbio.
altrettanto certo che l'uomo passante sul ponte con un sacco in
spalla abbia ispirato aneddoti curiosi e arguti, non sempre
benevoli nei confronti dei ponsacchini. Lo stemma fu concesso al
comune nell'anno 1889 da Umberto I, sulla base di figure rilevate
da antichi bronzi appartenuti alla comunità."
