"GONFALONE - Drappo d'azzuro riccamente ornato di
ricami d'argento e caricato dello stemma del comune con
l'iscrizione centrata in argento: Comune di Castel Focognano
(Decreto del Presidente della Repubblica in data 31 luglio 1954).
La bandiera posta sulla torre ricorda il dominio di Firenze che
fu successivo a quello degli Ubertini e dei Tarlati. La sagoma
del castello ha origine da un antico simbolo che rappresentava un
maniero a tre torri dalle quali si dipartivano lingue di fuoco.
Le fiamme poste nello stemma attuale alla base della torre ci
parlano delle lotte e degli assedi che si susseguirono in vari
periodi e che causarono gravi danni all'antica struttura. Il
fuoco, che arde vivace, è inoltre un diretto riferimento al nome
della comunità. "
