The vertical flag of the "Ayandeh Bank"; c, Sept. 2025. On October 23, 2025, the bank's operating license was revoked, its banking operations were dissolved, and it merged it with "Bank Melli Iran." An article in the Jan. 14, 2026, "Wall Street Journal" claimed that the failure of the "Ayandeh Bank" accelerated the financial crises that led to the late December 2025 political crises, as merchants began to demonstrate against the falling value of the rial currency (pg.
