IOE is the sole representative of business in social and employment policy debates taking place at the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations, G20 and other global forums. The International Organisation of Employers (IOE) was created in March, 1920 to advocate for employers and the business community in the tripartite governance structure of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Its headquarters are in Geneva ( ), Switzerland. As of September 2019, IOE had 159 national employer organisations members in 145 countries, which represent some 50+ million companies worldwide.
