Some facts

The state of Idar was placed in the north of the agency. It was bordered by a few states that belonged to the Rajputana Agency, plus the states of Vijayanagar, Lunavada and Balasinor, an exclave of Baroda and two portions of territory belonging to Bombay. The city of Ahmednagar seems to be in this territory, but may also be either in the Barodan exclave or in Bombayan territory.
Jorge Candeias, 29 May 1998

Former Indian state, now part of Gujarat state, Western India; 1668 square miles; at one time in Mahi Kantha Agency; joined Union of Rajasthan June 26, 1947. Its capital, Idar, lies 55 miles NNE of Ahmadabad, in Sabar Kantha distr. Title: Chief (old spelling: Edur, Edar).

The flag

[Idar - Variation?] by Jorge Candeias

The flag is known. It is a striped flag of light purple (pink?), greyish blue, dark red, yellow and dark green in proportions 1:2 (in the top of the page). In Ed's site, however, and strangely enough (because the picture that was found in FOTW was made originally by him), a different flag is shown: also with five stripes, but the colours are light purple (pink?), greyish blue, red, blue and green in proportions 5:9 (above). Why is this flag different? An error in one of the two? A variation? Different flags used in different historical times?
Jorge Candeias, 29 May 1998

This five-colored flag (Pan~charanga), points to a the Rajput-affiliation, dating from at least 1741.
