Located in Cobh, Cork Harbour, the CSC - it will be remembered that Cork is also the home of the Royal Cork Yacht Club - found its origin in boat building by people of lower social standing than members of the RCYC. A sailing club was founded in 1904, named “Cove Sailing Club” in 1919, and merged with the smaller East Beach Corinthian Sailing club in 1948.

The lack of proper grounds and infrastructure has oriented the CSC to competitive sailing with the boats kept at a local marina but in 2009 a dinghy facility, catering to young people, was established. Club website: http://www.covesailingclub.ie

The burgee appears in one of the many photos in the Gallery (upper menu): see ‘Cove Sailing Club Events’, seventh album ‘Barry Hurley returning to Cork harbour’, photo 91: detail shown above. Dark blue field, a yellow lady harp, uncrowned of course to differentiate it with that of the Royal Irish Yacht Club.

The yacht ensign of this last (white field, mainly) is seen in some photos but another one is seen in ‘Crusier [sic] Gallery’, fifth album ‘Cobh Regatta 2009’, photo 07: mainly blue field, something yellow in the fly. This flag could very well belong to the Royal Cork not the CSC.
