Ágfalva is a village in Győr-Moson-Sopron county. Photo taken by me on 17th
August 2001 at "General County Meeting" in Győr.
Ágfalva, in German Agendorf, was a village in the formerly
Sopron county. The Treaty of Trianon annexed to Austria. It was
returned in 1922. The Coat of Arms and the description are from
the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Atlas; HISZI-Map, 1998: "It
was part of the Dégi domain. It was acquired by the Cistercian
order in 1195. The village was called Agendorf by German settlers
in the thirteenth century. It was a serf village of the town of
Sopron until the nineteenth century. The mine in Brennberg was
opened in 1785 which provided employment for many inhabitants.
The village was named Ágfalva in 1906. The village has a
population of 1947 persons."
