The flag of 3. maj (= Third May Shipyard) in Rijeka is blue with a red lozenge bordered white and bearing the logo.
The story of this shipyard begins in 1892, when the German shipyard company
Howaldts Werke from Kiel built a smaller shipyard on a coastal area called
Brgudi, not far from the city of Rijeka, where a small facility for repairing
wooden ships was already operating.
Changing owners and countries, the
shipyard changed its name several times, from Danubius and Cantieri navali del
Quarnero to Kvarnersko brodogradilište (= Kvarner Shipyard) and finally 3. maj
(=3th May) according to the date of the liberation of Rijeka.
Some consider this date to be the date of the occupation.
