Banrural was established in 1997 to offer financial services to rural
smallholders and SMEs that were ignored by traditional banks. Its aim is to
foster the economical and social development of the rural areas of Guatemala.
Banrural has now more than 1.7 million customers. A dedicated part of its
capital is assigned to native groups.
