Costamare Shipping was incorporated in Panama in 1975 by Captain
Vassilis Kostantakopoulos, still owning the company and nicknamed "The
Containers' King". Costamare indeed operates a huge fleet of some 60
vessels, one of the largest in size and capacity container ships
fleets in the world.
The company is based in Paleo Faliro, Attiki.

The house flag of Costamare, as shown by Josef Nuesse, is a triangular orange
pennant with a golden fringe and a red stylized "C", the emblem of the
company. This must be a table flag rather than a flag hoisted on boats.
Several Costamare boats have a rectangular yellow flag with the red
"C" painted on the hull, below the ship name. This would make a more
plausible house flag, which has yet to be documented.
